Two More Days!

It’s one day, one square mile and one goal: to make the biggest possible impact in our city. 1Day Hoboken is this Saturday, and we need YOU! Are you pre-registered? Have you invited your friends? Volunteers will be working in virtually every corner of the city, lending a hand at Hoboken High School, True Mentors, the Hoboken Shelter and more. Here's a sneak peak of some of the projects.

1Day, 30 Projects, Unlimited Potential

Just two weeks after moving to Hoboken last year, Courtney signed up for 1Day, a community service event that takes place across the city. She was eager to learn more about Hoboken Grace and meet new people. "What better way to get your feet into church and then go and serve the community?" she said. "I just kind of showed up and didn't know what to expect, but thought that it would be a great opportunity to get to know people.”

Design Hoboken Grace’s Next T-shirt!

They've been there for plenty of special moments — 1Day, baptisms and other celebrations. But our Hoboken Grace T-shirts need a makeover, and we want YOU to be a part of making it happen. It's time for new shirts! And this time, they'll be designed by you! That's right — we're holding a T-shirt design contest. The winning entry will be printed on hundreds of shirts, worn all over Hoboken.

Our Biggest 1Day Project Yet!

Each year, 1Day brings together as many people as possible to accomplish as much as we can for our city, with projects at parks, schools and local organizations. In addition to those projects, volunteers at this year’s event on Sept. 24 will also put together meals for families struggling with hunger in our community. But here's the catch: We're packaging 10,000 meals — in two hours.

Famous for Faith

Have you ever longed to be famous? Maybe the Olympics had you momentarily imagining you were the world’s greatest jumper, runner or swimmer. Or perhaps you have dreamt of being on a stage where there are smoke machines, flashing lights and loud music. Or maybe your chosen fame would come as a writer or academic. Whatever the case might be, at some point many of us have thought it would be cool to have a worldwide reputation for excellence in something.

Improv for a Cause (College Edition)

Over the past year, Improv for a Cause has raised money for organizations in Hoboken and around the globe. The events have benefited a community mentoring program, an orphanage in Mexico and a local homeless shelter. The next event is this Sunday, from 7 to 8 p.m. at Willie McBride's. And this time, we're sending someone to college!

Lights, Camera, Popcorn

Under constellations and against the backdrop of New York City’s lights, picnic blankets and lawn chairs dot the grass at Pier A Park each Wednesday night. But there's something different about this year's Movies Under the Stars. The air is saturated with a hint of salt and butter. Moviegoers wait in line along the sidewalk. And a group stands in the corner, handing out free bags of popcorn.

Building Connections in Kenya

It started with cards and pictures. The kids at TRUE Mentors in Hoboken and Rehema Home orphanage in Kenya would send each other letters. Fast-forward several years, and Hoboken Grace will send a team on a third trip to Kenya this fall, and a fundraiser for the Rehema Home will take place at the Pilsener Haus & Biergarten on July 14.

THIS Saturday: GO Jersey City

Once a year, GO Jersey City brings dozens of people together to serve the city, its residents and some of the organizations that make the community feel like home. This Saturday, June 4, volunteers will disperse across the city with gardening tools, paint brushes and the common goal of making a difference in one day. They’ll head to New City Kids, Liberty State Park, Van Vorst Park and several other projects.

Breathing Room

This May, Hoboken Grace introduces parents to Breathing Room: a quarterly invitation to slow down, enjoy a (child-free!!) night out and connect with other parents. We all knew it wouldn’t be easy trying to grow little people into [well-functioning] human beings, but did it really have to be this hard? Between sleepless nights and public toddler meltdowns, it can be […]

We’re Taking It to the Next Level

Have you registered for Amplify yet? We’re kicking things up a notch at our fifth one-day conference. We’ve turned up the volume (three worship bands will serve as one), added more growth opportunities (like the new Parenting course), and planned a day that will leave you feeling both energized and recharged. (And have we mentioned that Chick-fil-A is bringing lunch?) […]
