A Night of Prayer, A Month of Rhythms

At Night of Prayer earlier this year, Devin was handed a card with a string attached – the type of string you might tie around your finger as a reminder. He was told to jot down the things he was struggling with – the areas in his life he would hand over to God that month. “And at the end of the month, I looked back at [...]

Building Community, One Meal at a Time

For Julia, who has attended Hoboken Grace for several years, the welcoming atmosphere on Sunday mornings has always been apparent. There’s a sense of responsibility for one another and for the city itself, she noticed. It was that sense of community that inspired Julia to start praying about ways to reach [...]

A group will be handing out popcorn at the city’s free movie screening at Pier A each Wednesday night. The series kicked off last night with a showing of Young Frankenstein. Hoboken Grace began serving popcorn at the [...]

Go all in and you might leave with life-changing insights. Amplify, Hoboken Grace’s one-day growth conference, is already designed to propel you forward. Each breakout track is an opportunity [...]

Growing Together

"...We don't have a religion, we have a relationship with God. We don't give Him our leftovers, we give Him our all. And the only way we can do that is if we take the time to invest in that relationship, invest in ourselves and continue to grow in our faith, together, as a church community." That's where opportunities like Amplify come in. [...]

What’s Holding You Back?

Sometimes I don’t believe my head and my heart communicate with one another. Do you have this problem? I can tell myself 100 times: You need to get up and exercise because it benefits your health and wellness. Or, pick up that book you’ve been slowly working through, it’s better for your brain and vocabulary than binge-watching Netflix. But often my [...]

Laying a Solid Foundation

I grew up in a traditional household and attended a pretty traditional church. While I never walked away from Christ (or so I had thought), I moved away from the idea of a brick-and-mortar place of worship some time ago. For me, attending a weekly service felt like I was just going through the motions. I felt empty and unfortunately did not receive [...]

The Hunt That Changed Everything

When Gwen and her family were looking for a church. They’d visited a few in the area but hadn’t yet found a place to call home. Then, a friend invited Gwen and her son to Hoboken Grace’s Easter Egg Hunt. “I thought it’d be fun,” she says, but she didn't have any other expectations. Gwen assumed it’d be a basic Easter [...]

Shattered Egg-spectations

Last spring, Hoboken Grace was a new church for me, and I was exploring some of its activities. The week before Easter, the church was throwing a free Easter Egg Hunt at a huge, fenced-in sports field on Jackson Street. I was planning to stop by for just a half-hour to get a feel for the event. It wasn't anything like what I expected.

Random Acts of Kindness — All Day Long

Through the years, we’ve been known to give granola bars to hungry commuters at the PATH and Light Rail stations. We’ve handed out waters to those playing basketball at Church Square Park, and warmers to passersby on cold winter nights. Last summer, we even gave out thousands of bags of free popcorn at Movies Under the Stars.

A Christmas to Remember

The sights, sounds and smells of Christmas filled 301 Garden. Elves’ hats jingled. Cookie crumbs lined trays. Mulled cider steamed from paper cups. But those who attended the Hoboken Christmas Exchange on Saturday say what made the event most special were the moments that made their heart swell — the moments filled with smiles and tears, gratitude and generosity.
