Improv for a Cause (College Edition)

Over the past year, Improv for a Cause has raised money for organizations in Hoboken and around the globe. The events have benefited a community mentoring program, an orphanage in Mexico and a local homeless shelter. The next event is this Sunday, from 7 to 8 p.m. at Willie McBride's. And this time, we're sending someone to college!

Lights, Camera, Popcorn

Under constellations and against the backdrop of New York City’s lights, picnic blankets and lawn chairs dot the grass at Pier A Park each Wednesday night. But there's something different about this year's Movies Under the Stars. The air is saturated with a hint of salt and butter. Moviegoers wait in line along the sidewalk. And a group stands in the corner, handing out free bags of popcorn.

Building Connections in Kenya

It started with cards and pictures. The kids at TRUE Mentors in Hoboken and Rehema Home orphanage in Kenya would send each other letters. Fast-forward several years, and Hoboken Grace will send a team on a third trip to Kenya this fall, and a fundraiser for the Rehema Home will take place at the Pilsener Haus & Biergarten on July 14.

THIS Saturday: GO Jersey City

Once a year, GO Jersey City brings dozens of people together to serve the city, its residents and some of the organizations that make the community feel like home. This Saturday, June 4, volunteers will disperse across the city with gardening tools, paint brushes and the common goal of making a difference in one day. They’ll head to New City Kids, Liberty State Park, Van Vorst Park and several other projects.

“THURSDAY?!” Why We’re Moving Teams Night

There may be some of you who are anxiously awaiting the date of the next Teams Night, but I would guess that on the whole most of you are on the fence about whether to attend and evaluating your other Friday night options. Allow me to blow that all up for you with this announcement: The next Teams Night will be held on THURSDAY, June 9th at 8 p.m. at 301 Garden Street. Before you drop your coffee and toss your phone, here’s why we’re moving Teams Night to a Thursday.

Breathing Room

This May, Hoboken Grace introduces parents to Breathing Room: a quarterly invitation to slow down, enjoy a (child-free!!) night out and connect with other parents. We all knew it wouldn’t be easy trying to grow little people into [well-functioning] human beings, but did it really have to be this hard? Between sleepless nights and public toddler meltdowns, it can be […]

We’re Taking It to the Next Level

Have you registered for Amplify yet? We’re kicking things up a notch at our fifth one-day conference. We’ve turned up the volume (three worship bands will serve as one), added more growth opportunities (like the new Parenting course), and planned a day that will leave you feeling both energized and recharged. (And have we mentioned that Chick-fil-A is bringing lunch?) […]

Three Days, Limitless Growth

Twenty-five members of our church family attended the Axiom retreat this weekend, engaging with God in silence and solitude and with each other through prayer and group discussions. The international program, held this weekend at St. Mary’s Abbey Retreat Center in Morristown, is designed to help participants gain intimacy in their conversations with God. For some, that meant wrestling through […]

Running the Race Marked Out for Us

When it comes to journeying with God, have you ever felt like you’ve been running on autopilot? Oftentimes, we make the commitment to follow Christ and then expect it to be a light and easy downhill jog from there. We assume God will move mountains instead of asking us to scale them. We spend all our energy dashing off to […]

Taking the Next Step

The first time I attended Hoboken Grace, I was terrified. I dragged my friend along for moral support, but I was still anxious. Was I going to fit in? Would there be anyone there like me? Looking back, I laugh at how nervous I was, because from the moment I walked into 301 Garden I was made to feel right at home. […]

The Easter Egg Hunt That Changed Everything

For Shanta, Hoboken Grace’s annual Easter Egg Hunt brings her family together to share in the excitement of the event, but also to discuss the true meaning of Easter. Each spring after moving to Cliffside Park four years ago, Shanta looked for a fun, inexpensive Easter activity for her children but found nothing in their neighborhood. Then, two years ago, […]

Five Reasons to Get Egg-Cited for Easter

We are just a few weeks away from our biggest celebration of the year! With all that God is doing in our city, we have so much to celebrate this Easter. And there are so many things to look forward to. Here are five things to get egg-cited about:   1). Two hunts are better than one For the first […]

Hunting for Eggs and Finding a Place to Call Home

Once a year each spring, dozens of bales of hay are hauled into Hoboken and strewn across a playing field. Underneath lie thousands of pastel Easter eggs, ready to be scooped up and cracked open by ecstatic kids. The event — which also includes pictures with the Easter bunny, carnival games, bounce houses and face painting — has grown so big […]

The Hoboken Christmas Exchange: Restoring the Holiday Spirit

The Hoboken Christmas Exchange all started with one person’s desire to love their community through selfless giving. And in its first year, Hoboken Grace was able to partner with Kara Cohen to impact close to 1,000 people. It was an emotional night last Saturday as families needing a little extra help this holiday season came to 301 Garden St. to […]
