"While it is important that my husband and I grow together in our faith, it is also important that we grow separately," says Sarah. "The more time I pursue Christ on my own, the more I recognize Him as my Savior and the one certainty in my life, and I don’t expect my husband to step into that impossible role.”

Thirteen people returned earlier this month from Hoboken Grace's annual trip to Mexico, where they visited the staff and children of Casa Hogar Alegre orphanage. The team helps out in almost every aspect of the children's lives, from painting and cleaning to playing and helping out with homework. For those who go on the trip, one of the joys of returning year after year is developing bonds with the children.

Fast-forward several years, and Hoboken Grace will send a team on a third trip to Kenya this fall, and a fundraiser for the Rehema Home will take place at the Pilsener Haus & Biergarten on July 14.

I always get emotional at baptisms, but just thinking about my mom doing it got me completely choked up inside. Pastor Chris asked me throughout the week if I wanted to baptize my mom. I told him I didn't think I was going to be able to speak. And when it was her turn to come on stage, I started to weep as soon as we began to make our way up the stairs. I was so thankful, overjoyed and proud.

This Saturday, June 4, volunteers will disperse across the city with gardening tools, paint brushes and the common goal of making a difference in one day.
