Commitment Sunday - March 2020

Watch the beginning of the Home Initiative and how our church came together to take the biggest step of faith in our history. A commitment to create a permanent home for our city!

Celebration Sunday - March 2022

Watch the celebration as we look back on the two-year journey of the Home Initiative, and look forward to the new community center at 409 14th Street!

Listen as Pastor Chris introduces The Home Initiative and the vision for our church that we believe God called us to! Vision night was a powerful experience that set our course and laid the foundation for a journey that would forever change us and our city.

At the one-year mark into our decision to follow God and expand our ability to love and serve our city, it was amazing to see His plans for the Home Initiative in motion.

Despite unprecedented challenges for our nation and community, we stayed faithful. Thousands of people had already been introduced to the reality that they are welcome in our home, and God was continuing to work through us to grow that impact even more.

Here’s a look back as Pastor Chris updated us at the mid-point of the initiative. We were on an incredible journey that would soon result in a permanent space from where our city could experience Jesus’ love, hear Jesus’ message, and find their home in Him!

As the renovation of 409 14th Street begins, it’s crucial to understand that we are looking to establish a space from which we can love. We aren’t looking to build another church building, but rather a community center. It’s our dream to see graduations, concerts, seminars, weddings, birthdays and more held in this space shared by our community!

Our current goal is to have the building ready by the second half of 2022. We’re going to use this time to envision and then create the best possible space for the local community. It’s an opportunity to transform what it’s like to visit, live and work in Hoboken, and we’re going to make sure that we get it right!

No. The building will host our events and services on Sundays, but it will be utilized far beyond that. In fact, we are already in talks with our nonprofit and community partners about how they can use the building. The size and versatility of the space will provide these organizations with office and meeting areas as well as the ability to host events throughout the week. We will also be able to incubate and support new nonprofits as they seek to launch inside of our community as well.

In addition, we will create a year-long calendar and booking system that will allow us to welcome the City of Hoboken, other community organizations, small businesses, schools, individuals and more to apply to use the space for their own plans.

We are so excited about what this building makes possible. Its size and versatility will allow us to host graduations, concerts, weddings, middle school and teen camps, professional training conferences, movie showings, small business expos, job fairs, speaking engagements, town halls, charity events and so much more.

The people, organizations and companies of Hoboken will no longer have to leave the city to enjoy these kinds of events. Everything is now possible and accessible right here. There will be no other building like this one in Hoboken!

No! Bow Tie Cinemas did not own the building and they had already decided to permanently vacate the space well before we even began our own negotiations with the building owner.

It was sad to see the movie theater leave our city, but we are also thrilled to be able to ensure that the building will continue to be used as a space enjoyed by the community at large.

301 Garden has been our home for many years. It will be very difficult to say goodbye knowing all the memorable moments that occurred in that space. It is a very special building for us, and it will be in our hearts forever!

Ultimately, we did not own 301 Garden and were just long-term tenants under a rental agreement. Given the growth of our church and the scale of our plans, the building could not keep up with our growth and needs for the future. The new space will allow us to love and serve the people of Hoboken more than ever before and in entirely new ways!

The new uptown building will be our only campus in Hoboken once the move is complete. At this time, there are no plans to host services from more than one location.

The building has two main floors and two mezzanines totaling more than 25,000 sq. ft. of space. Its tall ceilings, large lobby as well as four major rooms create the welcoming and versatile space we’ve been praying for all these years!

The Home Initiative was a two year generosity journey from March 2020 to March 2022. We successfully reached our commitment goals!

For anyone that did not yet fully complete the generosity commitment they made, we want to encourage you in your continued generosity journey.  While we will no longer be formally tracking our Home commitment progress, we are so grateful that you are on that journey with us.
