This past Sunday, we got to celebrate four people who took the step of baptism!! We got to chat with Alyssa, who got baptized on Sunday to learn more about her experience!
Story Team: What was the feeling like after you were baptized?
Alyssa: I felt incredibly loved and comforted by God and everyone in Hoboken Grace!
Story Team: Who was up there with you?
Alyssa: Individuals who were a part of my spiritual journey and who I consider my brothers and sisters in Christ.
Story Team: For another Hoboken Grace community member who may be thinking about taking this step, what would you say to them?
Alyssa: Ask God to search your heart and unveil your hesitations and/or questions. Ask God for discernment and confirmation that you should be taking this next step. I would also recommend seeking wise counsel from trusted individuals who are also walking with Christ.
Story Team: What made you take the step of baptism?
Alyssa: I kept telling myself I didn’t need to get baptized since it had already been done to me when I was a baby. However, the idea kept coming to mind and I asked God to search my heart and make it clear if He wanted me to take that next step. Simultaneously, I felt the nudge to read the Book of Acts in the Bible which talked about the Great Commission. Without knowing what that was, I did some research and found the verse below from Matthew 28:16-20. It was then confirmed to me that I was called to be baptized as an act of obedience and love to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!
