This February, several of us traveled to Mexico on a missions trip with our partner organization Casa Hogar Alegre.

Casa Hogar Alegre provides a refuge for orphaned and abandoned children. By partnering with this organization and their mission, we can provide love and care for the children of Chiapas who have already been through so much in their young lives.

These children are fed, clothed and educated and through these acts they are given an opportunity to discover the hope that is found in Jesus. The goal of the mission in Mexico is to care for the physical well-being of these children and encourage their spiritual growth. 

The team arrived in Mexico filled with excitement to get involved and to work with the children. Packed in their suitcases were toys, clothes and plenty of soccer balls for the children to play with. The first day of the trip was largely spent in the classroom with the children, interacting with all of them and helping them get through their work. 

In the following days, some team members got to work on some projects building projects that involved painting, restoring and organizing on-site locations. Other team members continued their work with the children, running VBS classes, playing soccer, teaching them new sports and making different crafts with them. Through all of these activities, the children and families of Chiapas were able to see and experience the love of Jesus up close. 

In our next trip, we will partner with Potter’s House, who tirelessly give back to those who live in some of the most impoverished areas of Guatemala.
